2. The inflatable nylon air bag compresses the sample/buffer interface. The recommended air
regulator must be installed by your physical plant personnel between the tubing adapted and
your house air supply, and reinforced tubing is required. The diagram below depicts set-up
with the optional Air pressure electrical interlock. If no interlock was ordered, air flow will go
directly from the regulator to the air bag.
3. The coolant flow cut-off interlock valve uses house tap water at ambient temperature for
cooling, and shuts power off if (house) water pressure is lost. Tygon (or other quality tubing)
should be connected between the gold tubing adapter on the beige flow valve and one of the
black tubing adapters beneath the cooling block. The remaining black adapter should be
connected to a drain tube. The remaining gold adapter on the flow valve connects to a house
water supply (ambient temperature). Direction of water flow is indicated by an arrow on the
flow valve. Hose clamp all connections. To prevent electrical discharge from wicks (arcing),
the cooling block is “hard black anodized” and is therefore electrically insulated. As a
secondary shield, the block fitted with a white Teflon cover taped on the corners with
adhesive Teflon tape.
4. After all power cord and coolant connections have been made, the HTLE-7002 is
ready for testing. First, turn on the water or other coolant and allow any bubbles to clear from
the tubing. Remember, if coolant is not flowing through the gold interlock valve, the other
interlock on the safety cover will not allow the power supply to turn on! With water flowing
and the safety cover down, turn on mains power (toggle switch located on side of unit above
mains input ) then turn on the power supply. Test the cover interlock by lifting the lid to be
sure that the power supply is inactivated. Once this has been done, reset the system with
the power supply on, and turn off the water supply which should turn off the power supply.
Once both interlock systems have been tested satisfactorily, the HTLE-7002 is ready
for operation.
