HTLE-7002

SECTION 3
Instructions for Use

3.1

HTLE-7002 Unit preparation

1. Place the HTLE-7002 electrophoresis unit on a level work surface in an authorized work

area. The HTLE-7002 is supplied with a low voltage electrical safety interlock on the inside
of the cover. The system is designed such that any pre-existing power supply may be used
to run the apparatus, provided it has a minimum 1500V, 150mA rating.

By following the 5 steps below, the interlock will be engaged such that the power to the
system will be interrupted if the safety cover is inadvertently opened during the run.

Do not

use this interlock as an “on-off” switch!

For safe and proper use of the interlock

system, two cord sets are provided; the mains cord set and the power supply cord set.

a. Mains cord set, from mains (male) to mains input (female) located on the safety cover.
b. Power supply cord set, from power supply output (male) to power supply (female).

This cord set should replace the cord set that was supplied with your power
supply.
Therefore, the power supply AC and DC output is subject to interruption should
any safety interlock be activated

c. Red and black power supply leads attach to corresponding recessed male banana plugs

on the left side of the safety cover.

d. Red and black leads which emerge from side of black interlock box attach to buffer tanks.

You may choose electrophoresis direction by assigning anode or cathode status to either
buffer tank. Power leads are long enough to interchange.

e. Safety lid must be down for system to function. When run is completed, turn power

supply off before lifting cover. Safety interlock is rated for 110V or 220V depending on
mains voltage, unless specified otherwise.
