20. Turn the pressure to 10psi and inflate the
balloon (Fig. P). This will squeeze out
excess liquid from the wick and
completely flatten its edges. When you
have wetted the plate to be run, turn off
the pressure and disassemble the
apparatus as before; remove the pins,
lift up the lid, remove the neoprene pad
and top Teflon sheet and place aside.

Carefully lift up the top sheet of
polyethylene by one corner and slowly
peel it away, and then wipe up any
excess buffer from the top and bottom
sheets of polyethylene using a Kimwipe
(Fig. Q). The apparatus is now ready to
run after the final plate preparation. It
is best to keep the wicks under
pressure until you are ready to add
each plate so they do not soak up
excess buffer.

When Plate is ready, place on top of
Teflon-covered block, fold wicks over
onto plate edges. (Fig. R). Cover with
Polyethylene, Teflon, rubber pad. Close
pressure top and install pins.
