Method of operation and application
When compressed air is applied, the contractible
membrane
3 of the Fluidic Muscle type DMSP-... /
MAS-...expands in circumference. A tensile force
thereby arises, as well as a contracting move-
ment in the longitudinal direction. The DMSP-... /
MAS-... is single-acting. Movement is transferred
to the work load with the aid of connecting el-
ements which are screwed into thread
1 as per
“Accessories” (with DMSP-... the adapter is al-
ready fitted). There is no integrated force limita-
tion in the connecting flange
2 of the MAS-...-K.
If the load exceeds a certain level, a safety valve
blows the excess compressed air down.
The Fluidic Muscle type DMSP-... / MAS-... is
designed for:
–
lifting and lowering masses
–
transmitting forces (e.g. clamping two
plates)
–
use as pneumatic spring.
The DMSP-... / MAS-... is simply a pulling actuator which cannot transmit pressure
forces and does not have a guide. The pulling force is at its maximum at the begin-
ning of the contraction and drops almost linearly with the stroke to zero. Expansion
in the peripheral direction cannot be used for clamping tasks, as friction can dam-
age the muscle.

Transport and storage
Please note
Unsuitable storage conditions can affect functionality.
S Make sure that the following points are observed during operation:
–
Do
not store the Fluidic Muscle in a buckled state.
–
Protect from ultra-violet rays (leave in protective sleeve until required).
–
The DMSP-... / MAS-... is stored at low humidity (under 60 %).
–
Avoid high temperatures (less than + 30 °C).
