• Moving the Chafing Dish when full
or hot: spilling hot water, tipping or
dropping can cause burns. The danger
of fire also exists in the case of heating
gels that may spill out of the burner.
• Screens or homemade devices intended
to protect from the wind (for example,
aluminum sheets): these can cause the
accumulation of heat and danger of fire.
• Use of heating gel cans not specified
for the chafing dish: only Fagor
Ethanol and Methanol heating cans are
appropriate for use with Fagor Chafing
Dishes and guarantee safe operation.
• Use of electric heating units not
specified for the chafing dishes: Only
Fagor PLAE-80 and PLAE-380 electric
hot plates are appropriate for use with
Fagor Chafing Dishes and guarantee
safe operation.
• The CDCD-E and CDR-E Chafing Dish
models with glass lids have their own
integrated electric heat source and no
other should be used.
• Flambéing, boiling and preparation
of hot foods can cause damage
(overheating, damage to materials,
discoloration).
• Operation of the Chafing Dish without
water will cause extreme overheating:
there is danger of burning and
damaging the Chafing Dish.
Although the Fagor Chafing Dishes are
manufactured to a high standard of quality
and safety, the possibility of injuries or
material damage due to operational errors
or misuse cannot be ignored. For this
reason make sure to follow the safety
instructions identified with the following
symbols:
Danger
Failure to comply could cause
permanent personal injury and/
or serious property damage.
Caution
Failure to comply could cause
personal injury and/or minor
and possibly major property
damage.
4.1 General Safety Instructions
• Danger of Injury - depending on the
design, the Chafing Dishes can be
relatively heavy. Hold them firmly and
don’t let them fall during disassembly,
transport, etc.
• Danger of burns - Chafing Dishes
become hot during use. Proceed with
caution when filling or changing the
food pans, etc.
• The Chafing Dish heat sources should
be at a safe distance from flammable
materials. It is imperative to comply with
the local construction standards of the
Fire Department. Make sure there is
adequate ventilation of closed buffets.
4.2 What to do in the case of fire
(heating gel)
Throw a damp cloth (not soaking) over
the objects on fire in order to smother the
flames. Warning: don’t use synthetic cloth,
only materials made of natural fibers (wool,
cotton, linen, etc.).
