Using the Smile Timer
If the camera detects smiling faces, the shutter is automatically released without pressing the
shutter-release button. The skin softening function makes facial skin tones softer.

Press flexible button 3 (Y Smile
timer).
• U is displayed.

Frame the picture.
• Point the camera at a person’s face. ➝ “Using Face Detection” (A 60)

Wait for the subject to smile. Do not press the shutter-release button.
• If the camera detects the smiling face of the person framed by the double border, the
shutter is automatically released.
• After the camera releases the shutter, it continues to detect faces and smiles, and releases
the shutter again if it detects a smiling face.

Stop shooting.
• You can turn off the smile timer by turning the camera off or by setting the self-timer to
b Off.
