Network Cascade Expansion
Port 12 has an internal circuitry, crossover MDI/MDI-X ability which can be
used to cascade additional devices. This port is internally defaulted to the
MDI-X position for standalone operation.
Network expansion means that any two hubs may be cascaded through Port
12 of a hub in one stack to any port (other than Port 12) on any other hub in a
second stack. This process allows a single network workgroup to support as
many as 142 workstations (72 ports/stack x 2 stacks = 144 ports - 2 ports for
cascade connections).
