System settings (initial state)

In all cases the monarch for partition A is preserved

For a BL870c i4 Integrity server, if partition B existed, it will still retain its system variable
content when moved into partition A.

The only time the system variables are changed is when you run the nPar cmd, hence the
blade is not factory defaulted for the blade upgrade case.

Newly added blades into the domain, due to the upgrade, will not have their system variables
initialized either.

These blades will asssume the role of Auxiliary blades.

Clearing of logs requires a manual action or a partition re-assignment. As a best practice,
newly added blades to the Blade Link domain should have their FPL and SEL logs checked
for prior issues before being cleared by the administrator.

Clearing of deallocated processors requires an AC power cycle event, such as blade
extraction or insertion or a user manual action or a partition re-assignment.

NOTE:

Note that application of the VC profile and power on occurs after the selection of the

final state for the partition.

Optional final partition configuration

An optional, final partition configuration can be selected by invoking the following sequence in
the nPar configuration menu:

1.

AAAA -> ABCD to ensure all blades have been placed in a known default state.

2.

ABCD -> Axxx, final partiton configuration desired.

To apply a virtual connect profile, the nPartition must be powered off.
a.

Power off the system after booting to EFI.

b.

Apply the Virtual Connect (VC) profile to the nPartition.

c.

Power on the nPartition.
