6 Troubleshooting the Insight Control performance
management
Overview
This chapter identifies and provides solutions for commonly encountered setup and installation problems.
The following issues are included:

Performance management installation and uninstallation issues
The following table describes the solutions to various problems that you might encounter while installing or
uninstalling performance management. The table also includes a solution for each problem encountered.

Restart the SQL Express or SQL Server
database processes. Perform a stand-alone
performance management installation.
The performance management installer
cannot connect to the database server.
During installation, the following error
message appears:
Failure to communicate with the
database server. The
installation was aborted.
At remote MSSQL installation, ensure that
the database instance that you mention is
not used by any other performance
management application.
HP SIM and performance management are
remotely installed on a system.
Incorrect server details retrieved by
performance management.
HP SIM integration issues
The following table describes issues and solutions that can be associated with HP SIM integration.

Refresh the HP Insight Control console and
click the PF column.
The refresh interval of the Online Analysis
page, which is based on sample rates, is
different from the refresh interval of the PF
column, which is fixed at 2 minutes. As a
result, the performance status information
does not match.
When the icon in the PF column is clicked,
the overall server performance status
indicated in Online Analysis does not
match the server performance status in the
PF column.
