EXAMPLE
Prerequisites for Silo Media Manager to Tandem Installation
To assure a successful installation of Silo Media Manager to Tandem, please make a copy of this
worksheet, fill it out and refer to it during the installation process.

Services File $SYSTEM.ZTCPIP
This file is normally located on $SYSTEM.ZTCPIP. This is where the port number
found later in this document will be defined.

Tandem IP Number 192.231.36.10
This IP # is the number of the Tandem which has the SMM server code installed. This
Tandem is physically connected to the Silo via SCSI cable.

Tandem Port Number 4001
This is the port number to be entered in the services file for the Tandem process that
connects to the SMM server code.

Host Name \S7000
The name of the Tandem system on which the silo is physically connected.

Device Name $STK9710
The SCSI device name of the silo device. The System Manager assigned this name when
he/she connected it to the system.

Drive Name(s) $TAPE1, $TAPE2. …$TAPE10
The tape drive name(s) of the tapedrives in the silo.

Host Drive Names(s) \S7000,…\K1000
The name of the Tandem node which is physically connected to the tapedrive(s) in the
silo. There can be up to 10 drives connected to 1 silo, 1 system for each tapedrive.

SMM Server Name $SERV2
This will be the process name of the $SYSTEM.TSISMMS0 program. TSI recommends
using $SERV, but any name can be used. The help desk will need the name of the
process should any support be needed.
