About this guide
This guide describes and provides instructions for preparing for Direct
Backup Engine operations on the HP Surestore Disk Array XP. The
instructions given in this guide are intended for system administrators who
already have the following skills and knowledge:
•
a background in data processing and understanding of direct-access
storage device subsystems and their basic functions.
•
familiarity with the disk arrays and RAID technology, XP
configuration, and related products, including the remote console.
•
expertise with the UNIX file system, commands, and utilities
•
proficiency with the Windows operating system
This document does not describe or provide instructions on performing
Extended Copy commands operations from the user's host server. Please
refer to the manual of the backup software application installed in your
host server for instructions on executing the Extended Copy commands.
This document applies to XP512/XP48 microcode versions 01-17-xx or
later.
Unless otherwise noted, the term disk array refers to the HP Surestore
Disk Array XP family, including these disk arrays:
HP Surestore Disk Array XP512
HP Surestore Disk Array XP48
