Open-System Host Server
The Direct Backup Engine operations involve the open-system host server
with a backup application installed. The host server executes the Extended
Copy commands to copy the specified data in the XP Disk Array to the
specified backup devices (such as tape devices and Disks). The host server
can remain online during the actual movement of data from disk to tape or
disk; therefore the server CPU and I/O resources are always available to
other operations and applications. The host server must be connected to a
target port in the XP Disk Array via the fibre-channel interface.
