Error Messages
This appendix contains error messages for the SWID utility. Error messages are of two
types: those generated to the OUT file during the fingerprinting process and those that
occur as a result of an ABEND.
Each of the messages is listed, with a cause, effect, and suggested recovery method.
SWID Messages
Cause. Original fingerprints are not available for this file.
Effect. The SWID operation continues with the next file.
Recovery. Insert the original fingerprint in the file.
Cause. Fingerprints could not be generated for this file. This message might be
accompanied by additional text indicating one of the following causes:
•
The requested fingerprint version is not supported.
•
The requested fingerprint type is not supported.
•
The original fingerprint version was requested, but the original fingerprint version is
higher than the latest fingerprint version supported by the current version of SWID.
Effect. The SWID operation continues with the next file
Recovery. Make sure that the correct file is specified and the data in the file is valid.
Also make sure that you are using the latest version of SWID and that you are
requesting a supported fingerprint version and type.
Cause. Some possible causes are:
•
An error was returned by the HP NonStop C library .
•
A Guardian error occurred.
•
An unsupported object file format was specified.
•
255,255 permission is required to insert a fingerprint in a licenses file.
•
A nonlocal licensed file was specified, into which fingerprints cannot be inserted.
Not available.
Not Computed.
I-O error.
