SWID Output
The format of SWID output consists of three parts:
•
The SWID banner
•
File fingerprints
•
Run statistics (only when you use the -DS switch)
Use of the -DS switch is optional and is explained in further detail in Section 4,
Running SWID With Customized Switches .
Sample Output
This is a sample of SWID output when SWID is invoked at a TACL prompt:
Banner Format
The SWID banner comprises the first three or four lines of text as shown in the
previous example:
•
The first line indicates the product version of SWID being used, the product release
date, and the name of the system on which SWID is running.

This scenario occurs only when file contents are changed deliberately. As a result, Yes
appears in the mismatch column. Normally the entry in the mismatch column is No or
blank.
Hyphens are not part of the fingerprint. They are displayed in a fingerprint only to increase
its readability and can be suppressed by using the -SH switch.
