Running SWID With Customized
Switches

This section describes how to customize the SWID output.

Switch Options

You can optionally select the following switches to customize the SWID application
according to your needs. The switches can be used only in run-line arguments.
Switches cannot be used in the IN file. Switches must precede the

fileset

and be

separated by spaces in the run line.

-DA (Display Any Fingerprint)

The -DA switch option causes SWID to display either the original or current fingerprint.
SWID tries to extract the original fingerprint first. If the original fingerprint is not
available, SWID computes the current fingerprint.

-DV (Display Version Procedure)

The -DV switch option causes SWID to provide additional functionality of the VPROC
utility (T9617). This option outputs the fingerprint of selected files as usual for object
files (file codes 100, 700, and 800), microcode files (file code 510), and millicode files
(file code 860). It also outputs the Binder timestamp and version procedures. If the
switch is not used, SWID does not display VPROC information. See

Switch Usage

Examples

on page 4-5. The output format differs from the one described under

Section 3, SWID Output

and is similar to that of the VPROC program.

-DS (Display Run Statistics)

The -DS switch option causes SWID to include comprehensive Run Statistics at the
end of its output. See

Switch Usage Examples

on page 4-5.

-SC (Suppress Current Fingerprint)

The -SC switch option causes SWID to suppress computation and display of the
current fingerprint. This switch is useful when you want to see only the original
fingerprint. The computation of the current fingerprint can be time-consuming.

-SO (Suppress Original Fingerprint)

The -SO switch option causes SWID to suppress extraction and display of the original
fingerprint. See

Switch Usage Examples

on page 4-5.
