In Linux environments, install the software by doing the following:
a.
Navigate to the directory containing the downloaded package.
b.
Untar the software package using tar or an equivalent tool.
c.
Determine if the software tool is already installed and note its version.
Enter a command using the following syntax:
rpm -qa | grep
[Tool_Name]
whereTool_Name is one of the following values:
•
MSADDTool—Device Discovery Tool
d.
Install the software.
Enter a command using the following syntax:
rpm -ivh
[RPM_Name --nodeps]
whereRPM_Name represents RPM package filename and is one of the following values:
•
MSADDTool-x.x-x.x.i586.rpm
—Device Discovery Tool (automatically installed
in the /usr/local/bin/msaddtool directory)
NOTE:
To force the installation on top of an older version of software, use the –Uvh
option in the command as follows:
rpm -Uvh
[RPM_Name--nodeps]
