HITCH

6.1 REQUIREMENTS

• must be seeded with G.P.S. auto steer and same row spacing the year

before

• must seed in exactly the same direction as the previous year

• guides the Seed Hawk openers between the stubble rows from the previous

year

• sensing arm follows between the two rows of stubble 4” – 6” above the

ground

• as the openers get closer to one row than the other, the stubble hits the

paddle of the sensing arm, activating a switch, sending power to the
directional control valve

• the directional control valve operates the hydraulic cylinders moving the

seeder to the side while the tractor remains in a straight line

6.2 BENEIFITS

• the stubble protects the young seedling from the wind

• better seed placement by not seeding through the stubble

• better soil to seed contact when standing stubble is left standing

• less soil is thrown to the side by the openers because the stubble tends to

corral the soil being thrown. This may allow for slightly higher seeding
speeds and less soil disturbance

• concave shaped paddle is less likely to ride on top of straw row than a flat

paddle, or ground sensing device

• paddle senses standing stubble not the ground, therefore harrowing will not

affect the operation of the S.B.R.
