4.2 TRACTOR HOOK UP

Change the tractor’s hydraulic filter after the first day or two of Seed Hawk
operation. Some debris may have collected in the hydraulic system during
manufacturing. Changing the filter will remove this debris, and prevent it from
damaging components on the seeder and tractor.

4.2.1 Shank lift and lower (Two hoses with
red
bands)

Connect the pair of 1/2” hydraulic lines to activate the shank lift and lower. The
shank up line is marked with a wide red band, and the shank down line is marked
with a narrow red band. The shank lock-up ball valves must be open in order to
lower the shanks. One is at the hydraulic manifold and the other is at the tractor
hook up location.
It is very important that the hydraulic fluid dump lines return
UNRESTRICTED
back
to the tractor hydraulic reservoir. There are male and female pioneer quick
couplers with the balls removed supplied with the Seed Hawk. Please use these
sets of couplers for your dump lines. Any alterations or restrictions in this line will
cause damage to the implement that will NOT be covered by warranty.

NOTE: Do not Tee manifold and fan case drain dump lines together unless
this takes place right at tractor reservoir. Do not plug this dump line for
storage.
4.2.2 Hydraulic Manifold (Two hoses with
green
bands)

Connect the other pair of 1/2” hydraulic lines to activate the wing lift and lower, and
the standby supply to the shank and wing cylinders. The manifold supply line is
marked with a narrow green band, and the return line is marked with a wide green
band. This tractor lever is locked in full pressure position while seeding.

4.2.3 Case Drain(s) (One hose with
yellow
band)
You must also connect the case drain line (yellow band) to return hydraulic fluid
back to the tractor reservoir. The case drain line is a 1/2” (13 mm) line from the
hydraulic manifold. The case drain line(s)
MUST
return to the tractor
UNRESTRICTED.
Failure to do so can cause damage to the hydraulic cylinders
or fan motor and will void Manufacturer’s Warranty.
NOTE: Do not plug this line for storage; damage to the gauges and manifold
may occur.
