SWX1-Fahrenheit or Celsius
Switches the temperature readings from Fahrenheit
to Celsius. If the switch is set to ON the controller
will read the sensors as Fahrenheit. (Note: If you
change this switch, you will have to reset your
Target Temperature.
SWX2- 5/10 Minute Timer
This switch selects between a 5 and 10 minute
system cycle timer. If the switch is ON, the cycle
time is set 10 minutes.
SWX3-and SWX4
Stage 7 and 8 Heat/Cooling
Options
Switches 3 and 4 of SWX1 operate in combination
and affect stages 7 and 8 as given in Table 2. If
switch 3 is ON and switch 4 is OFF, then Stage 8 is
set for heating. If switch 3 is ON and switch 4 is
ON, then Stages 7 and 8 are both set for heating. If
switch 4 is either ON or OFF, then Stages 7 and 8
are both set for Cooling.
SWX5 115/230v Switch
This switch selects the line voltage. The voltage
positions are labeled on the switch.
IMPORTANT: THIS SWITCH MUST BE SET
TO THE CORRECT VOLTAGE POSITION.

Error Codes
If your controller is displaying an “E1” or “E2”, etc. the controller has recorded an error.
The controller records errors from sensor reading.
Error Codes for the Farm Hand 4-ST and Farm Hand 8-ST controllers
Note: If sensor 2 fails, but sensor 1 is still operating normally, then the controller automatically
ignores the defective sensor (sensor 2) and uses sensor 1.
Note: If both sensor 1 and sensor 2 fail, then the controller ignores both sensors and the
controller regulates based on the On Point setting of Stage 1. The default sensor value used by
the controller in this situation is equal to the On Point setting of stage 1 + 0.1
°. For example, if
the On Point setting of stage 1 is 83.5
°F, then the default sensor value used by the controller if
sensors 1 and 2 both fail will be 83.5
° + 0.1° or 83.6°F. This insures that the building will be
properly ventilated until the problem is found.
Farm Hand 8-ST
Error Code
Description
Explanation
E1
Sensor 1 Error
Usually indicates a shorted sensor
wire. Check sensor resistance.
E2
Sensor 2 Error
Usually indicates a shorted sensor
wire. Check sensor resistance.
Note: If Sensor 2 (Model 4-ST
only) is switched OFF, then this
error code is not active. See
Model 4-ST SWX4 setting.
E3
Sensor 1 and Sensor 2
Sensors 1 and 2 both shorted.
