3.1.9 INSTALLING ADDITIONAL EqUIPMENT ON THE CIPHER
Use a Platform Ring to install additional equipment on the top of the Cipher, such as an IR illuminator
or Armasight MCS Miniature Collimating Sight. For the Platform Ring mounting procedures, see Part
3.1.8.
Use the Cipher side Picatinny/Weaver rail to install any additional equipment, such as an IR illuminator,
Armasight DT Digital Video Recorder, rangefinder, or external power source.
3.1.10 CONNECTING AN EXTERNAL VIDEO RECORDER/DISPLAY
TO THE CIPHER
To connect an external video recorder/monitor/TV to the Cipher’s input/output connector (11, Figure
2-1), use a video cable.
CAUTION:
Turn off the Cipher before you begin connecting/disconnecting any external equipment.
After removing the cable, replace the protective cap on the Cipher’s connector.
3.1.11 CONNECTING AN EXTERNAL POWER SOURCE TO THE CIPHER
To connect an external 6 VDC/1 A power source to the Cipher input/output connector (11, Figure 2-1),
use a video cable.
CAUTION:
Remove the batteries before connecting any external power source.
To avoid a sudden loss of power, turn off the Cipher before removing the batteries or discon-
necting the external power source.
CAUTION:
After removing the cable, replace the protective cap over the Cipher’s connector.
3.1.12 INSTALLING AN IR ILLUMINATOR ON THE CIPHER
Armasight long-range IR illuminators are delivered fully assembled with a dedicated mount, to be in-
stalled on the side rail of the Cipher, or to the top Picatinny/Weaver rail of the platform ring, which is
mounted to the Cipher.
Mount an IR illuminator on a Picatinny/Weaver rail as follows (refer to Figure 3-16):
