CAUTION :
The Scope Mounting Systems are not recommended for installing the Cipher on firearms with
vigorous recoil (0.308 Win or stronger).
The Cipher installed on the lens of a day scope is shown in Figure 3-9.
Install the Cipher on the lens of a day scope as follows (refer to Figure 3-10):
1. Using a 2.5mm Allen key, unscrew both М4×8 screws securing the Cipher mount. Remove the mount
from its seating rail and store it alongside the screws in the case.
2. Take off the output lens cap and put it into the storage case.
3. With the nut (B) loosened, place the insert (C) into the SMS’s clamp (A).

4. Screw the SMS into the Cipher’s output lens thread.
5. With the nut (B) loosened, slide the Cipher with the SMS onto the lens of the day scope as far as it
goes.
6. Tighten the nut (B) using a screwdriver.
If the position of the SMS’s clamping nut is unwieldy, you can adjust it by doing the following:
1. Determine the preferred position of the nut and estimate the angle through which the SMS should
be turned CW (see Figure 3-11).
2. Remove the SMS from the Cipher.
3. Using a screwdriver, remove the both M2×2.5 screws (F, see Figure 3-10) and then unscrew the ring
(E).
