Axle Identification
Axle
and differential carrier identification is
either stamped on the carrier itself or on a
metal tag affixed to the carrier. Location on
the carrier is the same.
OLD STYLE TAG
Axle Specification Number
The complete axle is identified by the
specification number stamped on the rear
right-hand side of the axle housing. This
number identifies all component parts of the
axle as built by Spicer, including special
OEM requirements such as yoke or flange.
In addition, some axles may include a metal
METAL
identification tag (see illustration).
IDENTIFICATION
This tag only identifies the housing. It does not
TAG
identify the differential carrier assembly components.
