Connecting Over Conference Link2
This chapter describes how the Conference Link2 interface can be used to
easily interface with other Polycom equipment including the Polycom HDX
video conferencing system.
While there are two Conference Link2 interfaces on a SoundStructure device
that permit two simultaneous connections to other Polycom devices, only one
Polycom HDX video conferencing system may be connected to a SoundStruc-
ture device.
The Polycom HDX video conferencing system may only be connected to a
SoundStructure C-series product.
Physical Connections
As described in the SoundStructure Hardware Installation manual, each Sound-
Structure Conference Link2 interface accepts an RJ45 terminated CAT-5e
cable. An 18” cable with the proper pin out is provided with each SoundStruc-
ture device.
Do not use the Conference Link interface to connect two SoundStructure
devices together - the Conference Link interface will not work in that manner.
Use the OBAM interface to link multiple SoundStructure devices together.
The signals that are transmitted between the SoundStructure device and a
Polycom HDX conferencing system connected over Conference Link2 are kept
as digital signals. No analog signals are transmitted between the SoundStruc-
ture device or the Polycom HDX video conferencing system when connecting
to the Polycom HDX system with the Conference Link2 interface.
While the Conference Link2 socket accepts RJ45 terminated cables, the pin out is
not the same as the T568A and T568B pin outs that are commonly used with
network products. See Chapter 11 or the SoundStructure hardware installation
guide for additional cable information including the required pin outs.
