What is HDMI?
High-Defi nition Multimedia Interface
(HDMI) is a high-speed digital interface
that can transmit uncompressed high
defi nition video and digital multichannel
audio. It delivers perfect picture and
sound quality, completely free from
noise. HDMI is fully backward-
compatible with DVI.

As required by the HDMI standard,
connecting to HDMI or DVI products
without HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital
Content Protection) will result in no
Video or Audio output.

What is video upscaling?
With Video Upscaling you can increase
the resolution of the DVD video signals
from SD (Standard Defi nition) to HD
(High Defi nition). The High Defi nition
output can only fed through the HDMI
connections.

This recorder allows you to increase the
picture resolution up to 720p and 1080i.
Before adjusting the setting, make sure
that your television is able to support the
video resolution or standard.
