Recording Mode

Following procedure is an example of the operation;
to change the position of the Recording Mode
Switch from “DV” to “MEMORY”.

Slide the Recording Mode
Switch to right.

● The switch’s position is at

“PS50”.

Slide the Recording Mode
Switch upward.

● The switch’s position is at “HI-

RES”.

Slide the Recording Mode
Switch to left.

● The switch’s position is at

“MEMORY”.

Features for Video Recording Mode
DV:
Allows you to record on a tape in DV format (576i).
The camcorder records signals in the interlace scan
mode (half of 625 scanning lines at 1/50th of a
second).
The image will be recorded in an aspect ratio of 4:3.
The DV mode is suitable for playback on a
conventional 4:3-screen TV.
PS50:
Allows you to record on a tape in MPEG2 format
(576p). The camcorder records signals in the
progressive scan mode (625 scanning lines at 1/50th
of a second at one time).
The PS50 mode reduces flickering more effectively
than a recording in DV mode.
The image will be recorded in an aspect ratio of
16:9. The PS50 mode is suitable for playback on a
wide-screen TV.

HI-RES:
Allows you to record on a tape in MPEG2 format
(???p). The camcorder records signals in the
progressive scan mode (??? scanning lines at 1/25th
of a second for recording and 1/50th of a second for
playback at one time).
The HI-RES mode offers higher picture quality than a
recording in PS50 or DV mode.
The image will be recorded in an aspect ratio of
16:9. The HI-RES mode is suitable for playback on a
wide-screen TV.
