Flying Start
Starts SED2 into a spinning
motor by rapidly changing the
output frequency of the SED2
until the actual motor speed is
found. Then, the motor runs up
to setpoint using the normal
ramp time.
0 = Flying start disabled.
1 = Flying start is always active,
start in direction of setpoint.
2 = Flying start is active, if power
on, fault, OFF2, start in direction
of setpoint.
3 = Flying start is active if fault,
OFF2, start in direction of
setpoint.
4 = Flying start is always active,
only in direction of setpoint.
5 = Flying start is active if power
on, fault, OFF2, only in direction
of setpoint.
6 = Flying start is active if fault,
OFF2, only in direction of
setpoint.
1. Press to enter the SED2
parameter mode and to display
r0000
.
2. Press to advance to
parameter P1200.
3. Press to access the
parameter values level.
4. Press to advance to
desired setting.
5. Press to confirm and save
the setting.
Minimum = 0
Default = 0
Maximum = 6
Suggested = 2
NOTES:
1. Flying start is useful for motors with high inertia loads.
2. Settings 1 through 3 search in both directions. Settings 4 through 6 search only in the direction of the
setpoint.
3. Flying start must be used in cases where the motor may still be turning (such as after a brief input
power break) or can be driven by the load. Otherwise, overcurrent trips occur.
4. If the SED2 faults on F0002 (overvoltage) on a start command, flying start may have to be optimized by
reducing the values in P1203 and P1202.
