PROBLEM
The power does not come on.
No sound from speakers.
Buttons cannot be used.
Sound from one speaker only.
The unit turns off and becomes standby
mode.
Remote control does not operate as
you intend.
Remote control does not work.
Remote control does not work for the
VDR.
Bass sound is reinforced too much
when listening in stereo.
Troubleshooting
Use this chart to help you solve daily operational problems. If there are any problems you cannot solve, contact your JVC’s service center.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
The power cord is not plugged in.
Speaker signal cables are not connected.
An incorrect source is selected.
Muting is activated.
An incorrect input mode (analogue or
digital) is selected.
Connections are incorrect.
TV Direct is activated.
TV Direct is activated.
The balance is set to one extreme.
Speakers are overloaded because of high
volume.
Speakers are overloaded because of a
short circuit at the speaker terminals.
The unit is overloaded because of a high
voltage.
The remote control is not ready for your
intended operation.
There is an obstruction hiding the remote
sensor on the unit.
Batteries are weak.
The mode selector is set to the incorrect
position.
You cannot use this remote control to
operate the VDR.
Appropriate bass level is not selected.
SOLUTION
Plug the power cord into an AC outlet.
Check speaker wiring and reconnect if necessary.
Select the correct source.
Press MUTING to cancel the mute.
Select the correct input mode (analogue or digital).
Check connections.
Deactivate TV Direct (see pages 13 and 20).
Deactivate TV Direct (see pages 13 and 20).
Adjust the balance properly (see page 22).
1. Stop the playback source.
2. Turn on the unit again, and adjust the volume.
Check the speaker wiring.
If speaker wiring is not short-circuited, contact your
dealer.
Consult your dealer after unplugging the power cord.
Press a source selecting button or TONE first, then
press the buttons you want to use. (See pages 21,
35, 36 and 37.)
Remove the obstruction.
Replace batteries.
Set the mode selector to the proper position.
Use the remote control supplied with the VDR.
Adjust audio position level (see page 22).
