The master unit is in charge of managing the optical link, it is also the 'master' from a
network management point of view. It contains the database of configuration information for
itself and the slave unit. The alarm and performance monitoring history is saved at the master.
When the management terminal is connected to the master it can read all of the information
from the local and remote units, whereas when the management terminal is connected to the
slave, only the local information is obtainable.
* Note: Master/Slave settings are fixed for these units and cannot be altered, and a message
indicating this will be displayed for single fibre units.
It is possible to set Master/Slave by using the front panel buttons if a terminal is unavailable,
see Appendix B.

User port configuration
Description
Turns this user port ON, or OFF.
When OFF all traffic on this port is blocked and is replaced with AIS.
When off (default) port timing is independant of other ports.
When on the port operates in SDH mode - refer to section 3.6.2.

This option allows you to reboot the unit that you
are using, as well as its remote partner.
Front Panel
Allows configuration of Front Panel controls.
