Using Windows XP Professional x64 Edition on the workstation blade 22
In some setups, the identical SoftPaqs are available on both the 32-bit and 64-bit version download pages.
For example, for the Broadcom Multifunction Drivers, the 32-bit and 64-bit SoftPaqs are identical. In other
setups, such as the SATA/SAS Controller Driver, unique 32-bit and 64-bit SoftPaqs are located. This
information might enable some efficiencies in your management of SoftPaqs if you are supporting
workstation blades running both Windows® XP 32-bit Edition and Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition.

Version 2.2 of the HP SAM SoftPaq is required for Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition. The
previous SAM release, version 2.1, is not supported on Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition.

The BIOS version is not dependent on the operating system that you are using. To see a list of supported
operating systems, see the HP website
. When prompted for a product,
enter WS460c. HP recommends updating your workstation blades to the latest BIOS version available.

QFEs are OS-specific. Install the Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition QFEs required by your IT
department. 64-bit QFEs are available on the HP download webpage. Also, search the Microsoft®
website
for 64-bit QFEs.
