Ethernet Port Connection
7.5.1 Cable Specifications
The recommended cable is Category 5 or better. A Category 5 cable has four
twisted pairs of wires, which are color-coded and cannot be swapped. The
module uses only two of the four pairs.
The Ethernet port on the module is Auto-Sensing. A standard Ethernet straight-
through cable or a crossover cable can be used when connecting the module to
an Ethernet hub, a 10/100 Base-T Ethernet switch, or directly to a PC. The
module detects the cable type and uses the appropriate pins to send and receive
Ethernet signals.
Some hubs have one input that can accept either a straight-through or crossover
cable, depending on a switch position. In this case, ensure the switch position
and cable type agree.
Note: The standard connector view shown is color-coded for a straight-through cable.

7.5.2 Ethernet Performance
Ethernet performance on the MVI69E-MBS module can affect the operation of
the MBS application ports in the following ways.
Accessing the web interface (refreshing the page, downloading files, and so
on) may affect MBS performance
High Ethernet traffic may impact MBS performance (consider using managed
switches to reduce traffic coming to module port).
