normal, so that there are

characters per inch. Also referred to as
elite.
unidirectional printing
Printing in one direction only. Allows more precise vertical alignment
than bidirectional printing. Often used for printing graphics.
user-defined characters
Characters that are defined and stored in the printer by the user. Also
known as download characters.
