Backlight Operation (Normal / Continuous)
If the AC adapter is properly connected to your 120V AC outlet and to the “DC 6V”
jack on the back of this radio, the display backlight defaults to the CONTINUOUS
mode and is ‘On’ continuously.
If the AC power is interrupted and the radio is running on the 4 “AA” back-up
batteries, the display backlight defaults to the NORMAL mode and shuts off to
conserve the battery power.
In the NORMAL mode, pressing any button will switch the display backlight ‘on’ for
5 seconds, and then it goes ‘off’ again.
When AC power is restored the backlighting changes back to the CONTINUOUS
mode automatically.
You may change the backlight from CONTINUOUS to NORMAL if you wish.
• With the radio ‘off’ press the MENU button,
press the or Navigation buttons until the
display is showing “BACKLIGHT” and the
current setting.
• Press the SELECT button. The current setting
flashes.
Press the or Navigation buttons to switch
to the desired setting, the press the MENU
button to exit the Menu mode and return to
the Time and Date display.
NOTE: The Continuous mode cannot be selected if there is no AC power to
the radio.
