Editing the Print

Queue Description

Now you need to edit the print queue description in the printcap file
to define the rp parameter as lpt1.

Follow the procedure below to edit the printcap file:

1. Use your text editor to open the printcap file.

Example:

2. Go to the last entry in the file. This entry defines the print queue

created using axinstall.

Note:

The printer name appears as a string in the margin.

3. Change the rp (remote port) parameter to lpt1.

Example:

4. Save the file and exit.

Printing to an LPR Print Queue

Type the following to print to the LPR print queue:

lpr -P

Example:

vi /etc/printcap

171.16.115.149_pr

Network printer on Print server 171.16.115.149:\

:lp=:\

:sd=/var/spool/lpd/171.16.115.149_pr:\

:lf=/var/spool/lpd/171.16.115.149_pr/log:

:rm=171.16.115.149:\

:rp=lpt1:

lpr -P 171.16.115.149_pr printjob1
