Installation Part 24 – Refilling to Cooling System

Back in the engine bay.

Check the lower radiator hose clamp to make sure it
has been retightened.
We will now refill the cooling system.

Set heater control in the cockpit to HOT.

Remove the cap on the expansion tank. (248.1)

Pour the 50-50 mixture of anti-freeze and water we
drained from the system back into the expansion tank
(248.2) until the tank is about ½ full.

307. Pour more of the 50-50 mixture of anti-freeze and
water into the open thermostat housing (247.1) until the
fluid reaches the bottom thread of the opening. You will
have some of the anti-freeze mixture left over. We will
use more of the mixture when we top up the cooling
system in a minute.

Locate the new 324-485 gasket for the top of the
thermostat housing (247.1)
309.
Put a thin film of Hylomar or other gasket dressing
on the gasket and replace the threaded plug (247.2)
310.
Tighten the plug using a 13/16 socket.
