If you experience a problem with this unit, please check
the following items before requesting service.
If it still does not operate correctly, contact the retailer
where you purchased the unit.

General

The unit will not turn on.

e

Check that the power cord is plugged into a working
power outlet. Check that the power cord is properly
connected to this unit.

No sound is output.

e

Select the source using the FUNCTION button.

e

Adjust the volume.

e

Unplug headphones from the PHONES jack. No sound
is output from the speakers while the headphones’
plug is inserted in the PHONES jack.

e

If “MUTING” is displayed, press the MUTING button.

The sound is noisy.

e

The unit is too close to a TV set or similar appliances.
Install the unit apart from them.

Remote control does not work.

e

Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit on.

e

If the remote control batteries die, replace both bat-
teries with new ones.

e

Point the remote control at the front panel of the unit
from a distance of less than about 5 m (16 ft).

e

Clear obstructions between the remote control and
the main unit.

e

If a strong light is near the unit, turn it off.

Tuner

A station cannot be received. The reception is poor.

e

Tune in a station properly.

e

Rotate or relocate the FM antenna to find the best
position for reception.

e

An AM antenna is built into the unit. If reception of
an AM broadcast is poor, change the orientation of
the unit. Good reception might not be possible from
inside condominiums and other buildings that are
made of reinforced concrete. Move this unit near a
window.

FM stereo broadcasts become mono.

e

Press the FM MODE button to select stereo.

CD player

Playback is not possible.

e

If the disc is upside down, reload it with the labeled
side up.

e

If the disc is dirty, wipe it clean.

e

Discs that do not have any recordings on them or
that have not been finalized cannot be played back.
Make sure that CD-R/CD-RW discs that you want to
play back have recordings on them and have been
finalized.

e

Depending on disc quality and recording conditions,
playback of some CD-R/CD-RW discs might not be
possible.

The sound skips.

e

Vibrations can cause the sound to skip. Place this unit
in a stable location.

e

If the disc is dirty, wipe it clean.

e

Do not play any disc that is warped, deformed or
damaged.
