Interactions
The setting of vinylpolysiloxanes is inhibited by latex gloves.
Do not touch preparations or retraction cords with latex gloves. It is recommended that operators
wash their hands thoroughly or use vinyl gloves in order to eliminate all traces of impurities,
specifically when hand mixing putty. Other materials which may inhibit the set of impression
materials include rubber dam, retraction cords and retraction cord fluids. If the operator suspects
that the preparation has been contaminated, it is recommended that the preparation be rinsed
and dried to eliminate all traces of impurities.
Application
– Putty (Regular and Fast Set)
Very high viscosity vinylpolysiloxane that provides easy mixing and the hydraulic forces
necessary to extend wash material into the sulcus providing a detailed impression of prepared
margins. The putty viscosity maintains outstanding detail reproduction when used alone.
Recommended impression techniques include Putty/Wash One-Step and Putty/Wash Two-Step.
Important: Avoid wearing latex gloves when handling putty, putty jars, and dosing spoons
(see note under interactions).
1. Take equal amounts of base (blue) and catalyst (white) using the color coded dosing
spoons.
2. Hand mix the identical portions of Virtual Putty base and catalyst until you obtain an evenly
colored mixture (approximately 30 seconds of mixing time). A proper mixture should have no
streaks. Note that equal proportions of base and catalyst must be used in order to obtain
proper setting times. A larger quantity of catalyst will not accelerate the setting time.
3. Place mixture in impression tray. It is recommended that the impression trays are pre-coated
with Virtual Tray Adhesive.
– Extra-Light Body, Light Body, Medium Body, Heavy Body, Monophase
(Regular and Fast)
Extra Light-Body (Beige): Extra low viscosity, hydrophilic vinylpolysiloxane suitable for final
impressions. This material is recommended for use as a wash material when using the
Tray/Wash and Putty/Wash impression techniques.
Light-Body (Beige): Low viscosity, hydrophilic vinylpolysiloxane suitable for final impressions.
This material is recommended for use as a wash material when using the Tray/Wash and
Putty/Wash impression techniques.
Medium Body (Beige): Medium viscosity, hydrophilic vinylpolysiloxane suitable for final
impressions. This material is recommended for use as a wash material when using the
Tray/Wash and Putty/Wash impression techniques.
Heavy Body (Blue): High viscosity, hydrophilic vinylpolysiloxane suitable for final impressions.
This material is recommended for use as a tray material when using the Tray/Wash
impression technique.
Monophase (Blue): Medium viscosity, hydrophilic vinylpolysiloxane suitable for final
impressions. This material is recommended for use as a tray and wash material when using the
double-arch, single-phase impression technique.
