Appendix C: Announcer’s Monitor

An optional announcer’s monitor is available for use with CARS Version 2.7 or later. If an
announcer's monitor is connected to your system, as described on the last two pages of this section,
the following screen will be displayed on power-up. Driver information and times will be added as the
vehicle numbers and race data are received from the C-33 or C-44 timer as described in the control-
view section of this manual.

Before the race, CARS receives the two vehicle numbers from the timer and displays the
corresponding driver registration information in the top two boxes of the announcer’s monitor.

The times are displayed as they occur on the track for the vehicles that are racing. During elimination
rounds and after the first qualifying round is completed, the announcer can determine the qualifying
position of the vehicles racing from the QUAL field. The qualifying ET/SPEED for the qualifying
position is displayed directly under it.

When the vehicle numbers of the next racers are sent by the C33 or C44 timer, CARS will transfer the
current race information from the top sections of the view screen to the sections labeled “Last Race
Results.” Then CARS will display the new vehicle numbers and corresponding driver registration
information in the top section of the view screen. The new qualifying positions of the previous
vehicles will be displayed in the QUAL fields at the bottom of the screen. The qualifying ET/SPEED
for this position is displayed directly under it.

If the racer breaks the National or Track ET record in their class, an “N” and/or “T” respectively will
be displayed next to the ET in the last race section of the view screen. Similarly, if a speed record is
broken, an “N” and/or “T” will be placed next to the speed in the last race section of the view screen.
These records are configured in the class menu by the user. The records are not updated
automatically, but must be changed by the operator.
Please note that the CARS system uses dial-ins sent from the C33 or C44 for calculating results and
not the class index entered in the class menu.
