5.5.1

Typical Module Insertion, All Modes

1. A drive begins in state 0x01. This is equivalent to having the module in hand and not

installed in the RTM. The status LED is off. Drive power is off.

2. Upon inserting the drive into an empty slot on the RTM, the state transitions to "0x02". The

status LED will turn amber. Drive power is still off in this state.

3. After a one second fixed timeout, the drive transitions to state “0x04”, active state. The

status LED will turn green. Drive power is active.

4. State "0x04" is the normal operation state. This state is the end of the insertion process.

5.5.2

Typical Module Slave Extraction Mode (Normal)

1. A drive begins in the active state 0x04. The status LED is green and drive power is ON.

2. When a push button is depressed or during a software shutdown request, the drive

transitions to state "0x08" Deactivation Request. The status LED will blink amber. Drive
power is on. A 30 second timer is started and a sensor is set for front ATCA blade to poll over
the IPMI-L bus. If the request is ignored and the ten second timer expires, the drive returns
to the active state 0x04.

2-3

Standalone

In this configuration, 30 seconds after pressing
the extract button, the RTM drive will grant
extraction without notifying the host.
