Using the Tap Button

The Prophesy's Tap Button function allows you to set delay times and/or tremolo rates on-the-

fly (while playing), either by tapping the front panel TAP button, by a momentary footswitch

connected to the rear panel, or by a control button on a MIDI foot controller like the Rocktron All

Access.

When activated, the TAP function instantly changes the current delay time/tremolo rate

settings based on the length of time between any two taps that are less than one second apart.

Obviously, this can be very handy for quickly getting the proper Delay times and/or Tremolo rates

for different song tempos.

After the Prophesy detects the length of time between taps, it then uses the time detected to

set the D-TIME parameter (displayed on the first Delay page) and/or the T-RATE parameter

(displayed on the Tremolo page). Depending on the value stored in the QUANT parameter of the

Tap page, the resulting delay time will be either:

• equal to the time between taps (when QUANT is set to

"1/4 NOTE"

), or,

• one-half of the time between taps (when QUANT is set to

"1/8 NOTE"

)

The front panel TAP button flashes continuously to provide a visual indication of the current

delay time setting. (This feature can also be turned off via the T-LED parameter on the Tap Button

display page.)

The TAPBTN parameter on the Tap Button page determines which effects that the Tap function

will operate on. These settings will work the same regardless of whether the Tap function is

initiated via the front panel Tap button, a momentary footswitch connected to the footswitch jack,

or control messages sent by a MIDI foot controller.

It is also important to note that the TAPBTN (Tap Button) parameter settings of "

DELAY

",

"

TREM

" or "

BOTH

" will only operate as set when viewing all other pages except the delay or tremolo

pages. So, for example, if the TAPBTN parameter is set to "

BOTH

" and you're presently viewing the

preset title page, and you were to begin tapping the TAP button, the Delay time and Tremolo speed

will be adjusted simultaneously. However, if you then turn to the Delay page and begin tapping the

TAP button, it will effect the Delay time only. Likewise, viewing the Tremolo page and tapping the

TAP button will effect the Tremolo rate only.
