Safety precautions for work with
brushcutter

When working alone with the brushcutter, the operator should
have sufficient knowledge and skill as well as be aware of the

risks of injury.
• The brushcutter operator is responsible that nobody when

clearing comes closer than 15 m (50 ft).

• Use only blades intended for the brushcutter (see page 2).

The operator must chech that the blade is fixed properly, well
sharpened and set. The bottom of the gullet should be round.

• Check the blade every day. Replace it as soon as cracks or

ruptures appear.

• Lock the blade shaft before replacing the blade. When

working with or near the blade, the engine must not be
running. When replacing the equipment check that the blade
shaft is locked. Only cutting equipment recommended by the

manufacturer should be used (see page 2).

• Check that the blade guard is not damaged and fixed

properly.

• During transport the blade should be removed or equipped

with a transport guard.

• Use the brushcutter only if the muffler is in good condition.
• The brushcutter should no be used if there is a risk of sparks

that could cause fire.

• When testing te spark plug, consider the risk of fire.
• Never add fuel or adjust the fuel system close to open flames

or while smoking. Stop the engine before adding fuel. A saw
with leaking fuel system must not be used.

• Do not start the engine where you have added fuel. Spilt fuel

may be ignited.

• Do not store the brushcutter and fuel in staff rooms. Use only

containers approved for fuel storage.

• The engine must not be run in non-ventilated areas as there

is a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

• Use your personal safety equipment.
• When working with the brushcutter always carry it in its

suspension. Do not use a brushcutter that is worm or
damaged ant thereby hazards the safety.

Equipment for your personal protection

Helmet.

Use your helmet if the tree-trunks that shall

be cleared are higher than 2 m.

Ear protection. Use ear protection with sufficient muffling

capacity.

Eye protection. Use safety goggels or faceial protection. The

eyes may be damaged by branches boun­
cing back or by chips flung away by the
blade.

Gloves.

Wear gloves if necessary.

Shoes.

Wear light, non-slip and stout shoes.

Clothing. Use clothes of strong material and avoid

loose clothing that may get stuck in shrubs
and branches.

First aid.

A first-aid-bandage should be carried by the
saw operator.
