I Connecting an amplifier with built-in decoder
You can enjoy the 5.1-channel surround sound found on DVD recorded with Dolby Digital or DTS Digital Surround by connecting an amplifier with
a built-in decoder or a separate decoder-amplifier combination.

Note when connecting the optical digital audio cable
Align the plug with the
terminal
Dust protection cap
• Remove the dust protection cap from the optical digital audio
output terminal and connect the cable firmly so that the
configurations of both the cable and the terminal match.
• Keep the dust protection cap and reattach when not using the
terminal.
Optical digital audio cable
• Do not bend the optical digital audio cable when connecting it.
Coaxial audio cable
Amplifier with a built-in decoder
• Read the instructions for the amplifier and speakers for connection
details.

(You can connect from 3 to 5 speakers including the front two.)

iiilf this is set to “No”, no audio will be output when DVDs recorded in 96 kHz linear PCM are played. (Audio will be output as it is if the DVD does not
have copyright protection recorded on it.)
•These changes to digital audio output must be made, otherwise bitstream signals the decoder cannot handle will be output. If these
signals are output, “noise" wiil be output which can cause harm to your ears and speakers.
•You cannot use DTS Digital Surround decoders not suited to DVD.
