N Subjects Not Suitable for Autofocus
Autofocus may not work well in the following
instances, and manual focus will probably give
you better results:
A. Subjects with very glossy or shiny surfaces
(e.g. car exteriors)
B. Subjects with little or no reflection (e.g. dark
clothes, dark hair, water surface)
C. Scenes that cause a strong contrast
between right and ieft halves of the screen
D. Partially obscured subjects
E. Subjects behind glass
F. Backlit subjects
Notes:
•
Be sure not to obscure autofocus window located
under the lens with your hand, fingers, etc. during
recording.
• Do not touch focusing ring during autofocus.
• The autofocus mechanism focuses subjects at a
distance of approximateiy 0.6—13 metres. For
more distant subjects, focus locks at infinity. To
shoot bright subjects at a distance of 13 metres
or more outdoors during daytime, the iens
aperture is smali so accurate focus is easily
achieved. However, if conditions are cioudy or if
you are shooting night scenes, etc., use manuai
focusing.
• If the camera is near other products that use
infrared beams (e.g. wireiess controller for TV,
VTR, or another video camcorder), autofocus
may malfunction. Autofocus is turned off when
the camera receives signals from the wireless
controller.
• Shooting subjects in low-light conditions at a
distance of less than 1 metre in autofocus
mode may result in poor picture quality. To avoid
this use the VL-7 Battery Video Light.
