Aerial installation - pull the cable and attach the cable
Starting from the residence, walk the cable end to where the tap will be located. Don’t let the cable kink, scrape,
tangle or get hung up as you walk. Pull enough cable to allow easy access to the tap. With the correctly-sized drop,
there should be enough cable at the residence to permit connection to the NID. Repeat this for every drop running
to this tap.
Attach the drop wire clamp
Attach a Q-hook to the pole or span. DF/BP flat cable can be attached to the hook using a drop wire clamp
normally specified for 1-2 pair telephone wire or fiber cable. We suggest a stainless steel three (3) piece clamp with
a serrated shim. Senior Industries #SI-0972 (Or Equivalent)
These designs use a shim to trap the cable in the clamp’s shell, and then use a wedge to tighten the shim. The
weight of the cable produces tension that tightens the wedge in the shell to secure the cable.
