Find a starting point based on a corner
location specified on the architect’s plans
or by scaling from a working drawing. Mark the hanger wire locations… …and lay out the Main Tees as shown
on the 2-D plan, aligning them with the
hanger wire locations.
Mark the hanger wire locations on the
Main Tees as they are shown on the
drawing plan. In cases when a Main Tee is required
2 feet from an adjacent Main Tee, it will
be hung at a different elevation. Refer
to the 3-D drawing for the proper height.
Establish the location of the highest point
of the assembly as specified by the archi-
tect. Be sure to have at least 2 inches of
clearance above this point to prevent inter-
ference with installation of the Edge Trim. Once the vertical placement is determined,
install and bend the hanger wires as
indicated on the 3-D drawing. Then, hang
the first Main Tee. Main Tees are connected with Main Tee
Splice Clips.
Main Tees are hung from the high points,
on 4-foot centers. They are usually
spaced 4 feet apart and are hung at the
same elevation.
