4.7 Assembling the specimen clamp
• The specimen clamp (34, Fig. 16 ) is assem-
bled inside the regular black Vibratome tray
(23, Fig. 15 ).
• Insert the cheese head screw (35) into the
bore of the specimen stage (27) and tighten
it using a size 5 Allen key (37, included in the
scope of delivery).
• When tightening, ensure that the fixture (34)
is parallel to the front edge of the Vibratome
tray ( Fig. 17 ).
• Insert the specimen block (36) into the clamp
and clamp it into place using the knurled
screw (39) ( Fig. 18) .
• The specimen to be sectioned is affixed to
the specimen block using the cyanoacrylate
adhesive provided.
• The purpose of the knurled screw (38) is to
ensure that the directional specimen fixture
can also be installed (for additional informa-
tion, refer to Fig. 22 ).
