5. Center Erase
Select automatic or manual center erase. When
“Auto” is selected, the shadow along the binding of
the book is automatically detected and erased.
When the “Auto” option is not selected, the area
corresponding to the center of the book table is
erased, regardless of the condition of the original.
6. Finger Masking
Masks the fingers that are holding the original with
“White”.
NOTE !

masking may not function properly. If the finger masking
function masks more of the image than necessary, turn the
finger masking function off.
The finger masking function does not work properly in the
following cases. (The term “finger” in the following
sentences includes the shadow of the finger.)
-
When there is not at least one finger on the left or right
side of the original.
-
When the fingers cover 10 cm or more from the left and
right edges of the original.
-
When a finger covers half or more of one page, even
when the distance from the edge of the original to the
finger is 10 cm or less.
-
When a finger is over the bottom edge of the original.
-
When a finger is within 3 cm from the top edge of the
original.
-
When the original contains an image, such as a
photograph, and the distance between the image and the
finger is 3 cm or less.
