Ethernet Network Specifications
Table 2 provides an overview of the IEEE 802.3 specifications for
ethernet configurations using thick, thin, and twisted-pair wiring.

AUI Port
Located on the back panel, the AUI Backbone port is a 15-pin D-sub
female connector, which connects the repeater to the network using an
standard Ethernet cable. See Figure 8. Alternatively, you can fit any of
a variety of Allied Telesyn’s 802.3 transceivers into this port should you
select a different medium such as fiber optics.
