Chapter 3
Troubleshooting
Follow the guidelines below to test and troubleshoot the installation in the
event a problem occurs.
If the PWR LED is OFF, do the following:
If the media converter is installed on a desktop, check to be sure that
the power adapter is securely connected to a power outlet and that
the power adapter cable is securely connected to the back of the
converter.
Verify that the power outlet has power by connecting another device
to it.
Try using another power adapter.
If the LINK LED for the twisted pair port is OFF, do the following:
Check that the end-node connected to the port is powered ON and is
operating properly.
Check that the twisted pair cable is securely connected to the twisted
pair port on the media converter and on the end-node.
Check to be sure that the end-node connected to the AT-MC1008
Series converter is configured for Auto-Negotiation and will operate at
1000 Mbps and full duplex.
Make sure that the twisted pair cable does not exceed 100 meters
(328 feet) and that you are using a Category 5 or better cable.
Use the MODE button to enable Link Test. This will disable
MissingLink and eliminate a fiber fault as the cause of link failure on
the twisted pair port.
