Troubleshooting
Follow the guidelines below to test and troubleshoot the installation in the
event a problem occurs.
If the PWR LED is OFF, do the following:
ˆ If the media converter is installed on a desktop, check to be sure that
the power adapter is securely connected to a power outlet and that
the power adapter cable is securely connected to the back of the
converter.
ˆ Verify that the power outlet has power by connecting another device
to it.
ˆ Try using another power adapter.
If the LINK LED for the twisted pair port is OFF, do the following:
ˆ Check that the end-node connected to the port is powered ON and is
operating properly.
ˆ Check that the twisted pair cable is securely connected to the twisted
pair port on the media converter and on the end-node.
ˆ Check to be sure that the end-node connected to the AT-MC1008
Series converter is configured for Auto-Negotiation and will operate at
1000 Mbps and full duplex.
ˆ Make sure that the twisted pair cable does not exceed 100 meters
(328 feet) and that you are using a Category 5 or better cable.
ˆ Use the MODE button to enable Link Test. This will disable
MissingLink and eliminate a fiber fault as the cause of link failure on
the twisted pair port.
