HP Device Monitor Service, HP Device Monitor Console, and this
management pack
The HP Device Monitor Console (DMC) communicates with instances of the HP Device Monitor
Service (DMS), allowing you to add, update, or remove servers. Servers supported by this
management pack must be registered with an instance of the DMS before those servers can be
managed in the Operations console. It is possible to run multiple DMS instances, and the DMC
can communicate with all of those instances.
You must use the DMC to register servers supported by this management pack with an instance of
the DMS before they can be viewed or monitored in the Operations console.
The HP servers supported by this management pack use each server’s iLO Management Engine,
instead of locally-installed SNMP agents or WBEM providers, to collect configuration and health
status information. This management pack allows supported servers to communicate with instances
of the DMS, instead of directly with the SCOM console. The DMS uses the SCOM agent of the
managed node on which the DMS is installed to communicate with the HP management packs on
the SCOM console.
For more information about the DMC and the DMS, see the HP Device Monitor for Microsoft System
Center User Guide.
