Operating the Drive
Using the Cartridge Locking Handle

2-6

To unload a tape cartridge:

2

The yellow “Tape in Use” light flashes while the tape
is rewound.

This could take up to 2 minutes, depending where on
the tape the drive was last reading or writing.

5

Remove the cartridge and replace it in its plastic case.

Replace the cartridge in its case immediately to
protect it from dust.

6

Push the Cartridge Locking Handle so that it swings
down.

Caution

Make a habit of pushing the handle down after you
remove a cartridge. If the tape drive is powered down
with the handle up, the drive will not accept a
cartridge until you have pushed the handle down and
up twice.

1

Press the Unload button.

3

Wait for the green “Operate Handle” light to be lit.

4

Pull the Cartridge Locking Handle so that it swings
up.
